Classes are generally 45 minutes to 1 hour, once a week. For younger beginners I do recommend the 45 minute lesson to avoid losing the students attention. The hour lesson is great for older beginners and advancing students who have a bit more focus and more music to work on. I am flexible on class time and how often you would like to meet. If you are in Corpus Christi, Texas I do drive to meet locally for lessons. I also teach lessons virtually using Zoom, Facetime, or even Skype. Due to the onset of the COVID-19 virus lessons are being conducted online currently, but in person lessons are available as long as we maintain all social safety protocols.
First time musicians will start by learning about their instrument of choice and the basic terms used in music. Using Essential Elements and Suzuki books of music, we will learn how to read notes and how to play them correctly on your instrument by learning the songs in these books. Each students learns at a different pace and in different ways, I always take that into account and encourage a persons strengths while also correcting the weaknesses. Beginning classes are for everybody of any age!
These classes are for those who have an understanding of music reading, how to play the instrument, and want to continue improving. For advancing students of any level we will focus on: Intonation, Rhythm, Bow control, Style, Dynamics, and all subtleties that create beautiful music. Even if you have music learned but are having difficulties in certain sections, I am here to help you with musical tricks and tips to improving on and perfecting difficult passages.
"Music is not math. It's science. You keep mixing the stuff up until it blows up on you, or it becomes this incredible potion."
